Stifled Creativity Does Not a Happy Mama Make
Creatives are happiest when they’re creating. But somewhere between diapers, dishes, deadlines, and doubt—the spark dims.
You stop reaching for the notebook.
You no longer make voice memos.
You tell yourself,
“It’s not the season for that.”
“There’s no time.”
“It’s selfish.”
But here’s the truth:
Suppressing your creativity doesn’t make you more present.
It just makes you more resentful.
Motherhood Can Expand You—If You Let It
You don’t have to shrink to be a good mom.
You don’t have to be silent to be nurturing.
In fact, the more whole you feel, the more you you bring to parenting.
Creating doesn’t take away from your child.
It teaches them what it looks like to be alive.
When I Don’t Create, I’m Not Myself
I’ve noticed the pattern. When I go too long without creating, I get:
Short-tempered
Numb
Spiritually heavy
Detached
It’s not the output I miss.
It’s the outlet.
We were never meant to store all this life inside without releasing some of it.
Give Yourself Permission to Make Again
You don’t need a launch plan.
You don’t need 3 hours of quiet.
You don’t even need anyone’s approval.
You just need space.
Even for just a moment.
Start with a sketch. A hoola hoop dance session. A Floverb. A trance tune.
Whatever brings you back.
Because the world doesn’t just need good mothers.
It needs expressed ones.
And if you’re craving a space where your creativity is welcome and witnessed, I built one for you.
